Shipping Services & Policies

At RuggedMade.ca, we ship orders to all Canadian provinces except Quebec. For log splitters, most construction equipment, and other products weighing 150 pounds or over, we use trusted freight carriers. For smaller products, we use UPS parcel delivery services. During checkout, you'll see the appropriate shipping options based on the products in your order and the shipping address you provide.

FREE SHIPPING

We provide free shipping for all log splitters, most construction equipment, and other designated products. When you see "FREE SHIPPING DETAILS" on a product page, that product qualifies for a free delivery service. If you add items that are not eligible for free shipping together with free shipping items in your order, you'll see shipping options and related charges for only those items that do not ship for free.

Note that freight surcharges may apply to some delivery locations. See FREIGHT SURCHARGES below for more details.

FREIGHT: RESIDENTIAL ADDRESSES

For freight deliveries to residential addresses, the driver will use a lift gate to unload the item from the truck. Commonly referred to as "curbside delivery", the item will be placed on the ground at or near the foot (street entrance) of your driveway. Please note that you are responsible for moving the item from the curb to another location on your property, such as a garage or workshop. Freight carriers do not require the driver to enter a driveway or re-position the item to a specific spot. Additional movement of the splitter by the driver will result in an additional charge.

Your location will need to accommodate a tractor-trailer truck up to 53 feet in length. If you are unsure that a large truck can arrive and depart from your location, please give us a call.

For residential freight deliveries, the carrier will call you to schedule a delivery appointment. Deliveries take place during normal business hours and you or someone 18 years or older must be present to inspect and sign for the delivery. On rare occasions, these appointments can be missed, so we strongly advise you to call the carrier to confirm your appointment 24 to 48 hours in advance of your scheduled delivery day.

FREIGHT: BUSINESS ADDRESSES

For freight deliveries to business addresses, the driver will enter the business property, but will not unload the item from the truck. Please note that you (the business) are responsible for removing the item from the end of the truck using your own forklift or pallet jack. The item can be unloaded at a loading dock or other unloading area on the business property.

For business freight deliveries, please note the following:

  • During checkout, you must provide the full business name and shipping address.
  • The freight carrier will not call ahead to confirm the time of delivery.
  • The business name must be clearly posted on a sign at the receiving location. Any gate at the location must be open during normal business hours.
  • The loading dock or unloading area must be unobstructed and accessible by a 53-foot tractor-trailer.
  • The business must be opened during normal business hours and there must be someone available to unload the shipment.
  • There must not be a residential structure on the property.

Note About Farm Locations

Freight carriers do not qualify farms for their business delivery services, even if there is equipment available that can unload the truck. If you wish to ship a product by a freight carrier to a farm, please be aware that a Remote or Out of Area surcharge may apply, depending on where your farm is located. If a Remote or Out of Area surcharge is applicable, we will reach out before shipping.

INSPECTING FREIGHT DELIVERIES

Upon delivery from the freight carrier, you are responsible for inspecting the condition of your shipment when it arrives. Do not sign the delivery receipt from the driver until you have performed this inspection.

If your product arrives with obvious damage, refuse delivery and contact us immediately - do not sign for the delivery. If you suspect concealed damage, notate "Possible Freight Damage" on the delivery receipt while the driver is present. If you then discover later that the product is indeed damaged, this step provides a remedy for a damaged freight claim.

If you did not inspect the shipment before signing for the delivery, open and inspect your shipment as soon as possible. If you discover damage after receiving the shipment, contact us immediately.

Please note that if you see minor damage to the outside packaging, the product inside is typically fine.

FREIGHT SURCHARGES

Freight carriers may impose certain surcharges depending on the delivery location. If a surcharge applies to your order, we will contact you before shipping.

Limited or Obstructed Access Surcharge

Freight carriers will apply a surcharge for locations such as gated businesses, golf courses, schools, gravel pits, construction sites, campgrounds, and apartment complexes. It may still be possible to ship to locations like these for a residential shipping fee, so please call us.

Remote or Out of Area Surcharge

Freight carriers charge additional fees to deliver to remote addresses, such as on islands or in mountainous or desert locations.

Freight carriers also designate certain locations as being outside of contracted service areas. For example, portions of major metropolitan areas, such as Toronto, are considered "out-of-area" locations. If you live in a remote area or close to or inside a major city, please contact us for a custom shipping quote. If you place your order before contacting us, we may be required to collect additional fees before shipping your item.

Remote and out-of-area surcharges are determined by the freight carrier based on zip code. Please allow more time for delivery to these locations.

Address Change Surcharge

If you request changes to the delivery address after the item ships, a re-consignment fee will need to be collected to complete your delivery. This fee is typically $50 to $100.

PARCEL SHIPPING

Smaller packages weighing up to 149 pounds ship via UPS. These orders typically ship the next business day after the order is placed. When determining estimated delivery dates, transit days begin one business day after the package is picked up by the carrier.

UPS Services

We offer the following UPS shipping services to Canada

  • UPS Standard: Transit time is 3 to 7 business days, depending upon the shipping address
